It’s an exciting time for our 3 baby meerkats as they are now old enough to be released into the wild!
The plan is to move them to the riverbed by the Lodge where they will have the freedom to roam around as much as they like. We’ll miss them being on the farm every day although we’re pretty sure the rabbits won’t miss them much!
This week Jo and Carol have been taking them to the riverbed twice each day, just for a couple of hours, to ease them into their new surroundings. We think they like it there because they keep scampering off to explore the area and Jo and Carol struggle to keep up with them!
At their new home, they’ll be joined by the five meerkats from the Bushman village so they’ll have more friends to play with too.
All going well, the eight meerkats should be released there permanently in a couple of weeks. We’ll still visit them every day with their cat nap food to make sure they’re all right but we’re sure they’ll just love their new home and friends!
